HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Southern Arkansas University competed in the University of Alabama-Huntsville Invitational this weekend. The Muleriders finished fifth in the 8K run with 166 points. Birmingham Southern won the competition with 43 points followed by Evansville with 45 points. Host team Alabama-Huntsville finished third with 72 points and Jacksonsville State finished in fourth-place with 110 points.

Jacksonville State’s Ryan McKay took the individual title posting a time of 25:32. Evansville’s Nick Waninger came in second at 25:44. Jeff Rhodes finished third at 26:02 for Jacksonville State. Forrest Boughner was fourth at 26:49 and Jack DaSilva finished fifth at 26:50, both representing Birmingham-Southern.

Southern Arkansas’ Nathan Hall led the SAU scoring contingent placing 21st with a time of 27:44. Elliot Isom was 27th at 28:07, Kevin Perez finished 32nd with a time of 28:26, Cade Lambert was 44th at 29:04, and Joshua Mitchell finished 59th at 29:49 to round out the SAU scoring. Other SAU participants were Morgan Collier (30:04), Michael Wooten (30:53), Kevin Moore (32:52), and Andrew Thompson (34:40) who finished 64th, 76th, 92nd, and 103rd, respectively.

The Lady Muleriders finished in third with 103 points in 5K competition behind Alabama-Birmingham who finished first with 60 points. Alabama-Huntsville finished second with 88 points.

Kristina Olsen took first place for Alabama-Birmingham in 18:31 while Emry McKay finished second at 18:37. Lesly Binning of Jackson State finished third at 18:52 while Erin Zellers of Alabama-Huntsville finished fourth at 18:52. Andrea Sonnenschein of Evansville finished fifth at 18:54.

Southern Arkansas’ Kendall Mears finished ninth at 19:33 while Gaby Mendoza came in at 13th in 19:58 and Michaela Krcova was 15th in 20:11. Lindsey Musielak was 31st at 20:48 while Maria Kolarevic was 35th at 21:10 to round out SAU’s scoring. Ashley Weeks (21:50) and Pam Elmore (24:12) also got on the boards for SAU finishing in 56th and 94th, respectively.

Southern Arkansas will compete this Friday in the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin’ Cajun Invitational in Lafayette, La.
