MAGNOLIA, Ark. - Southern Arkansas University (2-3) had no trouble with Champion Baptist College (0-9) Tuesday as the Muleriders dominated the Tigers from start to finish and cruised to an 89-35 victory.

A lay-up by Cory Green followed by a three-pointer by Leon Stone put SAU up 5-0 at the 18:54 mark. Seth Gammons responded with a lay-up to put CBC on the scoreboard at 5-2. The Muleriders increased their lead by 17 points, 19-2, on a jumper by Rolando Little. A lay-up by Little with 3:16 remaining in the half would put the Muleriders up by 33 points, 41-8. The Tigers scored six unanswered points to close the half as they trailed 41-14 at halftime.

Southern Arkansas began the second half the same way they closed the first half. The Muleriders outscored the Tigers 9-8 as CBC managed to cut the lead to 29 points on a free throw by Aaron Weido to set the score 51-22. SAU poured on the pressure in the last 4:59 of the game by outscoring the Tigers 16-5 on their way to victory.

Cory Green led the Muleriders with a game-high 17 points, six of 11 in shooting, and three of four at the free throw line. Kenny Wilcox had a double-double with 15 points and a game-high 12 rebounds, all in only 18 minutes of action. Caleb Winters finished with 13 points, two rebounds, and two assists, Leon Stone had 12 points and six rebounds, and Leon St. Rose had 11 points and five rebounds.

The Tigers were led by Seth Gammons who had a team-high 10 points, who was four of seven from the field and two of four in treys. Marc Likins contributed seven points.

SAU shot 51.5 percent (34-66) from the field, 42.9 percent (nine of 21) on threes, and 60 percent (12-20) at the charity stripe.

CBC made 14 of 47 shots from the field for 29.8 percent, two of 22 at three point range for an icy 9.1 percent, and five of 10 in freebies for 50 percent.

The Muleriders racked up 44 points off 27 Tiger turnovers. SAU finished with 11 turnovers in the game. The home team outboarded their visitors, 42-28.

SAU outscored CBC’s bench, 37-13, and was more powerful in the middle, 38-18.

Southern Arkansas takes a few days off before they host Rust (Miss.) College on Monday, December 4. Tip-off from the W.T. Watson Athletic Center is at 7 p.m.
