LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – NCAA Division I University of Arkansas at Little Rock had little trouble getting by Division II Southern Arkansas University in an exhibition game Tuesday, coasting to a 93-40 win at the Jack Stephens Center.

All five starters for the Trojans posted double-digits in scoring, with Nikya Hughes leading the way with 19 points. She also had a game-high 13 rebounds and added a couple of blocked shots in only 25 minutes of action. Jocelyn Love contributed 15 points, Kim Sitzmann had 14, and Renee Renz and Anshel Cooper chipped in 12 each.

UALR roared out to a 45-15 halftime lead behind 62.5 percent shooting, hitting 20 of 32 shots, and ended the game with a very respectable 58.7 percent (37-63).

The Lady Muleriders were led by freshman guard Goldie White, who finished with nine points. Senior forward Beth Grigsby and freshman center Kayla Jones added eight points each. Senior guard Brooke Grigsby and Jones pulled down four rebounds each for SAU.

Southern Arkansas shot only 20 percent (6-30) in falling behind in the first half, before finishing the game at 28.8 percent (15-52).

It was the second exhibition game of the season against a higher affiliated institution for the Lady Muleriders. SAU lost a 68-53 decision to Division I-AA Northwestern State (La.) University last Tuesday, before falling to the Trojans tonight (Tuesday).

Southern Arkansas gets little rest before they open the season for real Wednesday night. The Lady Muleriders travel to Durant, Okla., to face Southeastern Oklahoma State University in a 6 p.m. match-up.
